This year’s theme, “New Horizons: Youth-Led Innovation for a Livable Planet,” invites youth from across the globe to present innovative solutions for climate action, digital transformation, and the creative industries.
Event Overview
- Dates: May 19-20, 2025
- Format: Hybrid (Online and Washington, DC)

This annual summit is the World Bank Group’s largest event for youth, attracting participants aged 18-35 from all corners of the world. It will take place both at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, DC, and online, ensuring global participation.
Summit Goals
The Youth Summit aims to:
- Empower youth to discover innovative solutions for development challenges.
- Equip youth with tools to create and contribute to impactful projects.
- Foster collaboration between youth, the World Bank Group, and other global stakeholders.
Focus Areas for 2025
This year, the summit will focus on three transformative sectors that are key to creating sustainable and inclusive futures:
- Digital Transformation & Data: Exploring how youth are using technology, such as AI and big data, to foster economic growth, bridge the digital divide, and prepare a future-ready workforce.
- Climate Action & Resilience: Showcasing innovative solutions in green technology, smart cities, and sustainable agriculture to fight climate change while generating job opportunities.
- Creative Industries: Emphasizing how arts, media, and fashion can contribute to economic and social change, promote sustainability, and preserve cultural heritage.
The summit will also highlight fresh perspectives on innovation, focusing on underserved populations, Fragility, Conflict, and Violence (FCV), and partnerships. By spotlighting these areas, the event will amplify diverse voices and foster collaborations to drive global sustainable development.
Why It Matters
Today, 85% of the world’s youth live in low- and middle-income countries, with a significant portion residing in fragile or conflict-affected settings. This demographic faces challenges such as high unemployment rates and barriers to entering the job market, particularly among marginalized groups.
However, despite these challenges, youth are leading the way in innovation. From using real-time data to improve agricultural resilience to creating digital platforms for financial inclusion, young people are developing new business models that address youth unemployment and other critical development challenges.
Key Themes
The 2025 Youth Summit will explore innovations in several key areas:
- Education: Highlighting digital tools and creative solutions for access to education.
- Healthcare: Examining how youth are leveraging technology and innovation to improve health outcomes.
- Green Technologies: Exploring sustainable innovations that contribute to environmental resilience and economic growth.
The summit aims to amplify these youth-driven efforts and focus on their potential to scale up and address key development priorities. By fostering partnerships between youth, governments, businesses, and civil society, the World Bank Group Youth Summit seeks to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for young people worldwide.
