Migration Youth and Children Platform – United Nations Calls for Input Research Taskforce Application

DEADLINE: 10 March 2025

Do you have expertise in researching topics related to youth and migration? Do you want to be part of a collaborative group that will directly contribute to global policy-making by submitting valuable input to the United Nations?

This is your opportunity!

The Migration Youth and Children Platform (MYCP) is currently recruiting individuals to join Research Taskforces. These Taskforces will develop, write, and submit Calls for Input to various United Nations agencies, Special Procedures, and offices. Your research will play a critical role in influencing the reports and priorities of key UN entities.

Why Join the Research Taskforce?

  • Collaborate with like-minded experts: Work alongside researchers in the field of migration and youth to contribute meaningful input to the UN.
  • Influence global policy: Your research could impact international policies, particularly those related to youth migration and children’s rights.
  • Get published: While the input is officially submitted through MYCP, with your consent, your name and contributions may be listed in the final submission. Some submissions may also be published on official UN webpages.
  • Engage with United Nations mechanisms: Gain valuable experience working with the United Nations’ human rights frameworks and policies.

Taskforce Structure

  • Taskforce Composition: Research Taskforces will consist of 3 to 5 researchers. Each Taskforce will be led by one of MYCP’s Focal Points/Specialists.
  • Commitment: Each member is expected to contribute 1-2 hours per week until the final submission. The commitment is voluntary, and members must be able to dedicate time to meet tight timelines.
  • Short-Term Commitment: Please apply only if you can commit to the time and deliverables required. Taskforces work on short timelines, and each member’s contribution is essential.

What is Expected of Taskforce Members?

  • Researching and Writing: Engage in research that informs the development of Calls for Input on youth migration.
  • Collaboration: Actively participate in Taskforce discussions and contribute equally to the work.
  • Engagement with MYCP: You’ll be an active part of MYCP’s broader constituency, working on short-term projects, but please note that this role does not grant the right to represent MYCP in official UN processes unless explicitly authorized.

How to Apply

If you have a passion for researching migration and youth issues and are ready to make a difference, we encourage you to apply! Please be mindful that due to the volume of applications, not all applicants may be placed in their preferred Taskforce, but we aim to continue this initiative throughout the year.

Submit your application by 10 March 2025.
