About GPE

GPE, which stands for the Global Partnership for Education, is the largest financial mechanism in the world that is exclusively focused on the goal of transforming education in countries with lower income levels. It operates as a broad and inclusive partnership that brings together multiple stakeholders, each of whom shares a commitment to improving education. Our mission is centered on ensuring that every single girl and boy, no matter their background or circumstances, has access to a high-quality education, one that empowers them with hope for a better future, creates opportunities for growth and development, and strengthens their ability to make independent and informed choices in their lives.

For the past twenty years, GPE has been actively providing financial resources and facilitating innovative solutions to help countries build education systems that are not only strong and effective but also resilient in the face of challenges such as extreme poverty and violent conflict. Our work prioritizes those children who are most at risk of being left behind, particularly girls, ensuring that they have the education necessary to reach their full potential, break cycles of poverty, and play a meaningful role in creating a more prosperous, stable, and sustainable world.

At the heart of GPE’s approach is collaboration. We bring together a diverse group of partners who are deeply invested in education, including governments of lower-income countries, donor nations, international agencies, civil society organizations, such as youth-led and teacher-led initiatives, as well as private sector companies and philanthropic foundations. By working together, we aim to drive systemic changes that lead to long-term improvements in education, with a particular focus on supporting the places and populations that face the greatest barriers to learning.

Through our distinctive and highly effective partnership model, GPE has played a crucial role in helping countries make measurable progress in key areas of education.
