Position Overview

Sonke is looking for a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Consultant to support our M&E efforts remotely within Gauteng, Mpumalanga, or Eastern Cape. This position is integral to ensuring that data collection, analysis, and reporting are effectively carried out to assess program impact and guide decision-making. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Additionally, they must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop M&E Frameworks and Tools: Design and implement M&E frameworks and data collection tools to assess the impact of Sonke’s programs.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate program performance and outcomes.
  • Field Visits: Conduct field visits to support data collection efforts and ensure program activities are implemented effectively.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of data quality and integrity throughout the M&E processes.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed, high-quality donor reports for both internal and external use, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
  • Capacity Building: Support the capacity-building of staff and partner organizations in M&E methodologies and best practices.
  • Program Integration: Work closely with program teams to integrate M&E findings into ongoing program planning and improvements.
  • Confidentiality and Security: Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive program data at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree: A degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Public Health, Data Science, or a relevant field.
  • M&E Qualification (Advantageous): An M&E qualification would be an asset.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting.
    • Strong knowledge of data management software, such as Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, AtlasTI, SPSS, or STATA.
    • Experience conducting fieldwork and engaging with communities.
  • Report Writing and Presentation: Strong skills in report writing and the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing requirements and address challenges as they arise.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Team and Independent Work: Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Driver’s License: A valid Code B driver’s license is required.
