Call for Applications: KU Leuven AI Summer School 2025 in Belgium (Funding Available & Open to All Nationalities)

Applications Now Open for the 2025 Summer School – Deadline: 17 March 2025

The application process for the 2025 Summer School is officially open! Interested candidates have until 17 March 2025 (midnight CET) to apply. Below is all the essential information you need to know before submitting your application.

How to Apply

Applicants will need to provide the following materials as part of their application:

  1. Cover Letter (max. 500 words): Explaining your background, motivation for enrolling, and how the Summer School aligns with your goals.
  2. CV (in PDF format): Detailing your academic and professional experiences.
  3. Letter of Recommendation (in PDF format): At least one letter of recommendation is required, either academic or professional, including the signatory’s name, title, and signature.

Due to the high volume of applications, individual feedback will not be provided. Applicants will be notified of the selection results in April 2025.

Selection Criteria

The selection committee aims to ensure a diverse cohort of participants, focusing on the quality of the application. English proficiency is required for the program, but no formal language certificate is necessary.

  • Notifications Sent: April 2025
  • Summer School Dates: 30 June to 9 July 2025

Tuition Fees

The 2025 Summer School will be offered in a hybrid format (on-campus and online), contingent on sufficient applications. Applicants can specify their preferred format or indicate willingness to participate in either format. Tuition fees for both options are as follows:

1) On-Campus Programme Fees:

  • Postgraduate/PhD students: €875
  • Senior researchers, civil servants, and employees of civil society organizations: €1125
  • Other professionals: €1375

This fee includes all classes, course materials, lunches, coffee breaks, social activities, and a closing dinner. It also covers the certificate of attendance, which equates to 3 ECTS credits. Accommodation costs are not included; please refer to the KU Leuven housing website for more details.

2) Online Programme Fees:

  • Postgraduate/PhD students: €615
  • Senior researchers, civil servants, and employees of civil society organizations: €825
  • Other professionals: €1075

This fee includes all classes, course materials, access to the online learning platform, and a certificate of attendance with 3 ECTS credits. Please note that the online programme will only be offered if there is sufficient demand.

Cancellation Policy

  • Until 23 May 2025: 50% reimbursement of the tuition fee
  • From 24 May 2025 onwards: No reimbursement

Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships will be available for meritorious applicants who may not be able to afford the course. These scholarships will provide a tuition fee waiver. Applicants interested in applying for a scholarship will need to submit an additional letter detailing why they believe they are eligible.

Additionally, applicants from LDC (Least Developed Countries) will receive a €150 tuition fee discount.
