Africa Health Business (AHB) is looking for a Project Associate to join the Coalition of Blood for Africa (CoBA) secretariat and support its growth and development.
Job Description: CoBA Secretariat – 100% LOE , based at AHB HQ in Nairobi, Kenya
Reports to the Project Manager & Managing Director
The Project Associate is part of AHB and works under the Coalitions team, responsible for supporting
the further growth and development of the Coalition for Blood in Africa (CoBA).
The CoBA secretariat Project Associate works closely with the CoBA Project Manager on the following:
- Member recruitment: Potential member identification, meeting convening, meeting
preparation, note taking and actioning any follow up points. Compliance process support to
onboard new members. - Governance: Continuation of the establishment of a strong good governance structure within
CoBA including compliance documents. - Board management: Initiation and preparation of the CoBA board meetings, periodic board
reporting - Online awareness and visibility: Creative social media management, website content updates
and online newsletter content amongst others. - CoBA event management and identification.
- Supporting the CoBA lead in meeting arrangements, facilitation and follow-up.
- Strategic Partnership identification, confirmation, and management.
- Creating video graphic solutions that follow the CoBA’s brand integrity, including brand voice
and design style. Designs should have a strong sense of typography, composition, timing,
audio and visual balance. - Internal meeting facilitation, agenda setting and note-taking.
The scope of the role under CoBA may expand as more paying members will come on board and the
budget of the Coalition increases. Potential other areas of growth are: Advocacy, Research and Technical
Working Group management.

- Institutionalized and well-functioning Oversight Board
- Strategic Partnerships with influential partners in the health/blood space signed and active
- Increased visibility of Blood on the African Healthcare Agenda

Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of communication strategies, creative content management and affinity with the
heatlh and blood ecosystem is a much. - Minimum education requirement is Diploma level in the field of communications, journalism,
- social studies, public health or other. Bachelor education is preferred.
- Project management and secretarial administrative skills
- Excellent computer literacy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with clients.
