GIZ Call for Proposals: Short-Term Technical Expertise for the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner – Kenya

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for qualified experts to contribute to the important work of the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is seeking proposals for the provision of short-term technical expertise in critical areas related to data protection.
Areas of Expertise Required
The contract invites proposals from experts who can provide technical support in the following key areas:
- Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Material Development
- Develop educational materials that increase awareness and understanding of data protection rights and responsibilities for various stakeholders, including the public, businesses, and government institutions. The IEC materials should be clear, engaging, and culturally appropriate for diverse audiences in Kenya.
- Training & Capacity Building
- Deliver training sessions and workshops aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of ODPC staff, data protection officers, and other relevant stakeholders. The training should cover best practices in data protection, legal compliance, and the implementation of data privacy measures in various sectors.
- Research and Data Protection
- Conduct research on data protection issues relevant to Kenya’s legal, regulatory, and technological landscape. The expert should provide insights into current trends, challenges, and opportunities in data protection and privacy, while advising on how the ODPC can address these challenges effectively.
About the Contracting Authority
This contract is being managed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, an international development organization that provides technical expertise to governments and institutions worldwide. GIZ’s mission in Kenya, in partnership with the ODPC, is to support the development of a robust data protection framework that enhances privacy rights and fosters trust in digital services.
