About DW Akademie
DW Akademie is the international media development, journalism training, and knowledge transfer center of Deutsche Welle. With a focus on strengthening the human right to freedom of expression and ensuring unhindered access to information, DW Akademie empowers people worldwide to make informed decisions based on reliable facts and constructive dialogue. As a strategic partner of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, DW Akademie also collaborates with the Federal Foreign Office and the European Union, implementing projects in over 70 developing countries and emerging economies worldwide.
Project Context:
DW Akademie’s work spans regions, many of which are affected by conflict. The organization promotes Constructive Journalism, an innovative approach that encourages critical reporting on solutions and progress while fostering dialogue rather than polarization. This constructive approach is particularly relevant for supporting dialogue formats with media or civil society groups in conflict or post-conflict countries.
Consultant and Trainer Services Needed: For our media development projects, we are seeking an experienced Trainer and Consultant with expertise in Constructive Journalism, especially within conflict and post-conflict societies. The role will involve applying this expertise across the following contexts:
- Media production (online, video, radio, multimedia, and podcasting) using a constructive approach tailored to the respective country context.
- Training of Trainers (ToT) in Constructive Journalism methodologies.
- Developing and implementing training strategies for project partners with a focus on constructive approaches.
Key Requirements: Interested applicants should possess:
- Specific expertise in Constructive Journalism, particularly in conflict and post-conflict environments.
- At least 10 years of training experience in media development or related fields.
- At least 5 years of experience in Training of Trainers (ToT), ensuring sustainability and capacity-building within local teams.
- Extensive knowledge of regional media landscapes (preferably in Asia, Europe, or Africa).
- Strong intercultural competence to effectively engage with diverse media professionals and organizations.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of another language relevant to the region is an advantage.
Contract Details:
- A framework contract will be awarded for training and consulting services on an invoice basis, with up to 72 days available in 2025.
- The exact number of service days will depend on the specific project requirements, with no guaranteed minimum.
- If multiple contracts are awarded, the number of service days may vary depending on demand.
