About UNDP and the Internship Opportunity

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering global cooperation to address challenges such as inequality, climate change, and financing gaps. As part of its Private Finance for the SDGs Programme, UNDP’s Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) focuses on mobilizing private sector contributions to achieve the SDGs by embedding sustainability within business and investment decisions.

The Private Finance for the SDGs Intern will have the unique opportunity to support a dynamic team involved in organizing key events, monitoring and tracking project results, and assisting in fundraising efforts in preparation for the Financing for Development Forum (FFD4) in Seville, Spain, July 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Event Planning & Organization
    Assist with preparations for various events leading up to FFD4 in Seville. This includes coordinating content, sending invitations to speakers, supporting logistics, and working with communication specialists to ensure smooth execution of side events during preparatory committee meetings and the Hamburg Sustainability Summit.
  2. Results Monitoring & Reporting
    Support efforts in monitoring and tracking results across global, regional, and country-level projects. Manage data in Excel, perform analyses, and support the Head of Private Finance for the SDGs with donor relationships, proposals, and reporting.
  3. Partnership Building & Fundraising
    Help map potential new private sector partners and provide support in donor meetings and events. Support fundraising proposals and partner relationship management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Academic Background:
    Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree or final year of undergraduate studies in international affairs, economic policy, public administration, business administration, or a related field. Alternatively, have recently graduated with a relevant degree.
  • Skills & Experience:
    • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
    • Experience in research, SDG financing, and impact measurement.
    • Interest in SDG-aligned investing and sustainable development.
    • Excellent writing and computer application skills.
    • Previous experience in event planning is an asset.
    • Experience in developing countries is a plus.
  • Languages:
    Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French or Spanish is mandatory.

Internship Conditions

  • Start Date: 03 March 2025
  • Stipend: Interns may receive a stipend to cover basic daily expenses.
  • Health Insurance: Proof of enrolment in health insurance is required.
