Girls not Brides looking for Consultants

Background
Girls Not Brides is a global partnership of over 1,400 civil society organizations committed to ending child, early and forced marriage and unions (CEFMU) and ensuring girls can reach their full potential. Our current strategy (2022-2025) is approaching the end of its cycle, making this a critical moment for reflection, learning, and renewal. We are seeking highly experienced consultants (individuals or teams) to lead a comprehensive Strategy Review and Renewal Process, ensuring that Girls Not Bridesโ strategy for 2026 and beyond is robust, evidence-based, and tailored to address the evolving needs of our members, while driving meaningful change at the global, regional, and national levels.
This consultancy will be key in reviewing our progress, gathering insights from diverse stakeholders, and shaping the priorities that will guide Girls Not Bridesโ work in the coming years.
Scope of Work
The selected consultant will be responsible for leading a multi-phased process, which includes:
Phase one: Preparatory Phase (1st– Mid-March 2025)
- Define Strategy Parameters:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish clear boundaries and priorities for the strategy review process.
- Identify the organisation’s core strengths, challenges, and opportunities to set the foundation for a focused review.
- Develop Key Questions:
- Formulate targeted, forward-thinking questions to guide the review process and spark strategic dialogue.
- Ensure these questions address critical areas, such as impact, operational efficiency, sustainability, and growth.
- Deliverable: Strategy Review inception report
Phase Two: Strategy Review (Mid-March โ April 2025)
- Conduct a rapid but comprehensive assessment of Girls Not Bridesโ existing strategy, analyzing progress, challenges, and emerging opportunities to identify strengths and gaps in the current strategy and areas for improvement.
- Review organisational reports, existing regional consultations, evaluations, and external research to inform strategic discussions.
- Conduct stakeholder consultations with:
- Girls Not Brides members from various regions and sectors.
- Strategic partners (funders, advocacy groups, and implementing organizations).
- Board members and the Secretariat team.
- Key external actors in the broader girlsโ and womenยดs rights, development, and humanitarian ecosystem.
- Identify lessons learned and areas for strategic adaptation.
- Deliverable: A Strategic Review Report summarizing findings and implications for the future strategy.
Phase Three: Stakeholder Engagement & Facilitation (Mid-April โ May 2025)
- Design and facilitate interactive workshops, key informant surveys, and interviews to gather diverse perspectives.
- Ensure engagement processes are inclusive, participatory, and accessible across regions, languages, and sectors.
- Provide regular updates and reflections to the Girls Not Brides Board and CEO.
Phase Four: Strategic Development & Advisory Support (May โ June 2025)
- Lead the co-creation of Girls Not Bridesโ new strategic framework, ensuring alignment with:
- Organisational priorities
- Global trends in gender equality and child marriage prevention and response.
- Existing relevant frameworks (CEDAW, Beijing, etc.).
- The evolving needs and strengths of Girls Not Brides members and partners.
- The global funding landscape.
- Facilitate Strategy Advisory Committee (SAC) sessions, involving:
- Girls Not Bridesโ Board Chair and CEO.
- Key members of the Secretariat and senior leadership team.
- Selected Girls Not Brides members and external advisors.
- Support the revision of the secretariat Theory of Change and strategic priorities.
- Prepare presentations, briefing materials, and discussion documents to support decision-making.
Phase Five: Final Strategy Renewal & Implementation Roadmap (June 2025)
- Deliver a final strategic framework with clear priorities, goals, and success indicators.
- Work with the Girls Not BridesโImpact team to develop an implementation roadmap outlining:
- Key phases and milestones for execution.
- Resource implications and capacity-building needs.
- Approaches to monitoring and evaluation.
- Present the final strategy to the Board and Secretariat leadership.
Expected Deliverables
The consultant(s) will be responsible for producing the following key outputs:
- Inception Report (Mid-March 2025): A detailed plan for the review, including methodology, timelines, and key milestones.
- Strategy Review Report (Mid-April 2025): A synthesis of key insights from the assessment and consultations, including documented analysis of consultations, including regional and thematic perspectives.
- Facilitation of Strategy Advisory Committee Meetings (Mid-April โ June 2025): With preparatory materials, discussion notes, and action points.
- Draft Strategic Renewal Framework (May 2025): A document outlining key priorities, approaches, and impact pathways.
- Final Strategy & Implementation Roadmap (June 2025): A comprehensive strategy document with a MEAL plan.
Consultant Profile & Required Expertise
We are looking for a consultant (individual but preferably a team) with the following:
Essential Qualifications
- Extensive experience in strategic planning, organisational development, or programme evaluation, preferably in the global development or human rights sector.
- Strong knowledge of gender equality, child rights, womenโs rights, and international development, familiarity with networks, civil society organisations, and coalition-building approaches.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading complex, multi-stakeholder processes, including engaging diverse voices in strategy development.
- Experience in governance facilitation, particularly with leadership bodies, Board committees, and high-level advisory groups.
- Proven ability to design and execute participatory consultation methods (workshops, interviews, surveys, etc.).
- Strong analytical and synthesizing skills, with experience producing high-quality strategy reports and frameworks.
- Ability to work across multiple time zones and cultural contexts.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with global partnerships, alliances, or advocacy movements.
- Strong facilitation skills with fluency in English (Spanish and French are assets).
- Experience working on the issue of CEFMU, preferably in high-prevalence settings.
