Call for Applications: African Gender Equality Research Group-Stipend Available

The Institute of Global Value Inquiry (IGVI) is inviting applications from scholars specializing in African feminist philosophies to join its African Gender Equality Research Group. This initiative aims to bring together researchers across Africa to critically explore African philosophies, values, and norms in the context of global values. Scholars selected for this group will engage in research and advocacy on African feminist philosophies, gender equality, women’s empowerment, decoloniality, and Indigenous knowledge systems related to women’s empowerment.
About the Research Group
The African Gender Equality Research Group aims to address socio-cultural, political, and economic challenges to gender equality, fostering exchanges of ideas across Africa and globally. Through conferences, research papers, and publications, the group will contribute to reshaping discussions around gender equality from an African perspective, creating frameworks that address the intersection of local and global values. Scholars will actively participate in IGVI’s annual conference and contribute to the Journal of Global Value Inquiry.
Eligibility
Female feminist philosophers and scholars based in Africa, especially those from anglophone West Africa, are encouraged to apply. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be based in Africa and connected to an African university.
- Hold a PhD or equivalent in philosophy or a related humanities discipline, specializing in gender equality research, decoloniality, feminist philosophies, and epistemologies.

- CV (max. 6 pages)
- List of publications
- 3-5 research documents (article-length or book-length)
- Summary of expertise in gender equality (max. 6 pages)
- Research proposal outline (max. 2 pages)
Stipend and Duration
The selected scholars will be appointed for four years and will receive a monthly stipend of 800 Euros.
