The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) 2025 at INSAIT is now accepting applications! This prestigious summer program is designed to offer students the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects under the guidance of top faculty members.
About the Program
The SURF program at INSAIT is modeled after highly successful summer research initiatives at MIT, Caltech, and ETH Zurich. This marks the third edition of the program, following the successful launches in 2023 and 2024. Participants will contribute to ongoing projects in their research groups and may even have the chance to co-author papers for leading AI and computer science conferences.
Program Duration
The fellowship spans 8 to 12 weeks, with students expected to be present in Sofia, Bulgaria, for a minimum of 8 weeks. Remote participation is not allowed to ensure students receive full benefits from hands-on research and mentorship. Apply now

Selected students will receive:
- A monthly stipend of 1500 EUR to cover living expenses.
- Fully covered accommodation arranged by INSAIT.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, students must:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
- Be studying a STEM discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering).
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0) or the equivalent in their institution’s grading system.
- Applications from underrepresented communities in STEM are highly encouraged.
