Duration: 6 months, minimum three days per week
Remuneration: Volunteer position (reasonable expenses reimbursed, including a small daily lunch allowance of £5/day)
Start Date: Mid to late March 2025

Concordis International is a UK-based peacebuilding charity focused on resolving conflicts and promoting lasting peace. It runs peacebuilding programmes in regions affected by armed conflict, including Central African Republic, Cameroon, Chad, Sudan, and South Sudan. The organization’s vision is to ensure that every community impacted by conflict has the resources and strategies to manage future conflicts peacefully.

Concordis works closely with all stakeholders involved in or affected by conflict, striving to create solutions that foster sustainable peace and support economic development. The organization is particularly committed to including women, young people, and those from both armed groups and civil society in peacebuilding efforts.

Role Overview:

Concordis is seeking Programme Interns to assist in its peacebuilding programmes and gain hands-on experience. Interns will contribute to various aspects of programme design, implementation, and evaluation, including research, conflict analysis, media reviews, report writing, and funding opportunities. The position provides valuable exposure to the field of international development and peacebuilding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research & Analysis: Assist with research and conflict analysis in regions where Concordis operates, following the organization’s research methodology.
  • Programme Support: Aid in developing project proposals, monitoring international news outlets, and exploring new programme areas.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Work with programme managers to assess the impact of existing projects, capture results, and help in programme evaluations.
  • Logistical & Administrative Support: Provide support in data collection, analyzing collected data, preparing reports, liaising with project partners, and supporting dialogue or training sessions.
  • Funding & Proposal Development: Research potential sources of funding, assist in drafting funding applications, and help generate ideas for new programmes.
  • Networking & Outreach: Attend external meetings, seminars, and conferences, and contribute to website and social media content.
  • Security Monitoring: Participate in the security monitoring rota, tracking field staff movements and occasionally working weekends.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: A relevant master’s degree in international relations, development studies, conflict analysis, or similar fields. Some interns may work with Concordis while completing their master’s.
  • Languages: Professional proficiency in English and French; Arabic is a bonus.
  • Interest in Peacebuilding: A strong interest in peacebuilding concepts and curiosity about practical implementation.
  • Commitment: Ability to work three days per week with flexible hours. Available to start in March 2025.
