UNDP in Dhaka, Bangladesh seeks an International Project Manager: Apply!!

The International Project Manager position with UNDP in Dhaka, Bangladesh offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) project, which focuses on promoting digital transformation and innovation in public services. This role is critical in driving the development and implementation of e-governance solutions, digital public goods, and public-private partnerships to enhance service delivery, foster financial inclusion, and accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Project Management:
    • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the a2i project, aligning it with national and global digital transformation goals.
    • Oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring that it meets programmatic and financial objectives, adheres to UNDP policies, and delivers high-quality outputs.
    • Provide leadership in risk management, adaptive management, and resource allocation, including tracking project budgets and technical development roadmaps.
  • Partnership Development:
    • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government entities, donors, businesses, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
    • Guide the identification and onboarding of implementing partners, ensuring inclusivity and transparency throughout the project.
    • Ensure interoperability and integration of digital initiatives across various sectors and organizations.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Lead the development of a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework to track project progress, assess outcomes, and share lessons learned.
    • Prepare reports on project performance and resource mobilization, providing actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Knowledge Management and Advocacy:
    • Organize capacity-building activities, workshops, and training for stakeholders, ensuring alignment with national strategies.
    • Contribute to the development of digital public goods and knowledge sharing, promoting a2i’s methodologies on national and international platforms.
    • Advocate for policy and institutional frameworks that support the scaling and sustainability of digital innovations in Bangladesh.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage and mentor a diverse team of national and international experts, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
    • Promote gender equality and diversity within the project team and ensure that the project integrates a gender equality perspective.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, or Social Sciences) is required. A Bachelor’s degree combined with additional qualifying experience will also be considered.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years (with a Master’s degree) or 9 years (with a Bachelor’s degree) of experience in project management, digital solutions, and partnership management, particularly in the context of public service innovation.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, working with international agencies, government bodies, and NGOs, and executing projects related to digital transformation and financial inclusion.
    • Prior experience in resource mobilization and improving operational efficiency is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of digital transformation, including digital public infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
    • Ability to lead large-scale projects with diverse stakeholders, manage budgets, and ensure successful project delivery.
    • Fluency in English is required.

Duration & Location:

  • The position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and is offered on a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension.
