Program Overview: The World Health Organization (WHO) Health Emergencies Programme aims to build the capacity of Member States to manage health emergencies. The WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence, located in Berlin, plays a pivotal role in improving decision-making during health emergencies, reducing data fragmentation, and creating an ecosystem for collaboration across multiple sectors. The Collaborative Intelligence Department (COL) facilitates networks and partnerships that support the pandemic hub and its collaborative surveillance efforts.
Internship Description: As an intern, you will assist in various activities such as conducting background research on global public health issues, monitoring donor policies, drafting policy briefs and reports, assisting in engagement monitoring and evaluation, and supporting event organization. You’ll also contribute to drafting communication materials like social media content, newsletters, and web updates.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the objectives and stakeholders of the programme.
- Gain experience in desk research, preparing background documents, and organizing strategic events.
- Produce communication materials and enhance your skills in public health communication.
Required Qualifications:
- Completed at least three years of study in social sciences or a related field.
- Enrolled in a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification (graduates may apply within six months of completion).
- Experience in research, report drafting, and organizing events.
- Familiarity with tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Proficiency in English (desirable: German or other UN languages).
Financial Support: Interns receive a living allowance ranging from EUR 619 to EUR 1440 per month, based on location and financial disclosure. WHO also provides accident and medical insurance.
