Climate Transformation Fund 2025 Call for Proposals: Durable Carbon Removal
The Milkywire Climate Transformation Fund (CTF) is now accepting proposals for Durable Carbon Removal (CDR) projects as part of its 2025 call for applications. Launched in 2021, the CTF supports innovative climate solutions to drive global net-zero ambitions. With over $14 million allocated to 49 transformative projects, CTF aims to accelerate real-world applications of sustainable carbon removal technologies and catalyze systemic climate change.
Focus Areas for CDR Proposals:
- Scaling Carbon Removal Technologies: Projects that develop and scale promising, sustainable CDR solutions.
- Promising New CDR Methods: Pilot and demonstrate new methods with long-term climate impact potential.
- Sustainability and Cost-Effectiveness: Solutions that are more resource-effective and offer higher co-benefits than existing methods.
- Expanding the CDR Ecosystem: Projects that broaden the scope of carbon removal technologies and contribute to ecosystem-wide benefits, such as scientific advancements or new geographical areas for implementation.
What We Don’t Fund:
- Short-term carbon storage or storage with high reversal risk.
- CCS projects from fossil carbon sources or CCUS projects that reemit carbon.
- Carbon removal ecosystem-related services, such as MRV providers, that don’t directly remove carbon.
Funding and Support:
- Pre-purchases of carbon removal credits, with partial or full payments.
- Project purchases typically range from $150,000 to $300,000, with some select projects receiving higher sums in 2025.
- Collaboration with Milkywire and corporate partners to purchase and support carbon removal efforts.
Submission Process:
- Submit your proposal: Complete a short form (30-60 minutes) to register interest.
- Evaluation: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a detailed application submission.
- Final Selection: Proposals will be rigorously evaluated by CTF’s advisory group.

- Feb. 2025: Full CDR Applications Begin
