Are you a recent postgraduate eager to launch your career in research, policymaking, or capacity building? The Africa Economic Research Consortium (AERC) invites passionate and qualified individuals to apply for its Internship Programme, designed to build professional networks, refine career goals, and prepare participants for future job opportunities.
Programme Overview
Duration: 3–6 months
Location: Nairobi, Kenya (remote or on-site options available)
Focus: Supporting AERC’s research, capacity-building, and policy outreach agenda.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be 30 years or younger at the time of application.
- Hold a Master’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Economics | Statistics | Agricultural Economics
- Development Studies | Mathematics | Gender Studies
- Governance & Knowledge Management | ICT
- Accounting & Finance Administration | Procurement
- HR Management | Communication & External Relations
- Have completed their degree within one year prior to application.
- Be a Kenyan citizen or have legal work authorization in Kenya.
- Be proficient in English (proficiency in French is a plus).
- Exhibit strong communication skills and a capacity for rapid turnaround of tasks.

- Participants are responsible for their travel and upkeep expenses if working on-site.
- Medical insurance coverage must be arranged independently.
- A monthly stipend will be provided to eligible interns.
