About the Scholarship
Named after Dr. Iseult Honohan, a pioneering scholar in normative political theory at UCD, this scholarship seeks to attract exceptional PhD candidates to the UCD School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRe) ranked among the Top 100 globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024.
Eligible Programmes
Applicants must enroll full-time with a September 2025 start in one of the following:
- PhD in Politics and International Relations
- PhD in Quantitative and Computational Social Science (only with a SPIRe supervisor)
Note:
- Continuing students, part-time students, and those starting outside September or supervised by faculty outside SPIRe are ineligible.
Eligibility Criteria
- Hold a minimum 2.1 grade (GPA: 3.6) in a relevant Master’s degree.
- Secure a SPIRe supervisor prior to application submission.

- Adhere to the programme-specific application guidelines.
- Submit all relevant documents, including original academic transcripts, by the deadline.
