Join the Funded 2025 GAYA Cultivate Fellowship Program in Africa and Haiti: Empowering Gender and Youth Inclusion in Food Security!

The Cultivate Fellowship, presented by the Gender and Youth Activity (GAYA), is a transformative capacity-building program designed for field implementers of emergency and resilient food security initiatives focused on gender and youth inclusion.

Fellowship Highlights

Participants will explore how to deepen inclusive resilience in their programs by:
Conducting qualitative inquiries to address program-specific questions on inclusive resilience, including:

  • Collecting and analyzing data.
  • Collaborating with teams for interpretation, reflection, and decision-making.
  • Applying learnings to refine questions, tools, and processes.

Engaging with a dynamic peer network and accessing the growing Cultivate Alumni community for shared insights and learning.

Time Commitment

  1. Preparatory Virtual Meetings (4 weeks):
    • 1.5 hours per week for meetings.
    • Up to 1 hour weekly for assignments.
  2. In-person Workshop (5 days, May 2025 in Dakar, Senegal):
    • 8 hours daily, fully immersive.
  3. Follow-up Virtual Meetings (6–8 weeks):
    • Bi-weekly sessions of 1.5 hours each.
  4. Mentorship and Learning Activities:
    • Technical mentoring calls, a learning event, and qualitative inquiries during the fellowship.

Program Benefits

Fellowship covers: Travel, accommodation, and per diem for the in-person workshop.

Fellows will:

  • Conduct field research to explore resilience dynamics in their program.
  • Engage management and technical leaders to identify challenges.
  • Document findings and integrate them into program strategy.
  • Share results during the final virtual learning event.

Who Should Apply?

Ideal candidates apply in pairs from the same program, representing:

  • Gender, Youth, or Social Inclusion (e.g., Social Inclusion Manager).
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) or Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA) (e.g., MEL/CLA Manager).

Eligibility:

  • Focused on French-speaking gender, youth, MEL, and CLA leaders from food security programs funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) or similar partners.
  • Open to teams from Africa and Haiti. Individual applications are not accepted.
