Apply for the Red Cross Red Crescent Urban Climate Fellowship Program 2025

This fellowship aims to strengthen your capacity to reduce urban risks in the context of climate change.

About the Program

This three-month fellowship will provide foundational knowledge in urban systems, climate change, risk identification, and adaptation. The program consists of six modules, with one session per week, each lasting an hour. Sessions will include lectures, interactive discussions, and activities, culminating in a midterm and final assignment where fellows apply what they’ve learned in their own contexts.

Guest speakers from global urban organizations will share practical experiences and lessons learned, providing inspiration for fellows to take their own actions. The program is supported by the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, the American Red Cross, and Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies.

Fellowship Details

  • Duration: Three months (March-May 2025)
  • Format: Virtual sessions (1 hour per week) plus half a day per week for assignments and group work.
  • Completion: Final project submission followed by a virtual graduation ceremony and certification.
  • Opportunity: Fellows will join the IFRC’s Urban Technical working groups for continued technical support.

Eligibility

  • Affiliation: Must be affiliated with a Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) National Society. Applicants from Africa, Asia, and Latin America are encouraged to apply.
  • Requirements:
    • Letter of recommendation from National Society headquarters.
    • Undergraduate degree.
    • Minimum of two years’ experience in community resilience, urban planning, climate change, or disaster risk reduction.
    • Experience in training programs for community-based organizations.
    • English language skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in teams.
    • Access to a computer and internet for the virtual sessions.
