63rd Graduate Study Programme: “UN80: United for a Better Future”

The United Nations invites graduate students worldwide to participate in the 63rd Graduate Study Programme (GSP) in Geneva, Switzerland, from 30 June to 11 July 2025. This year’s programme theme, “UN80: United for a Better Future”, celebrates the United Nations’ 80th anniversary and focuses on the implementation of the historic Pact for the Future, adopted during the 2024 Summit of the Future.

Programme Highlights

Participants will engage in a dynamic 10-day programme that includes:

  • Morning Lectures: Sessions led by representatives of the UN, international organizations, diplomats, and civil society.
  • Workshops & Institutional Visits: Interactive engagements and insights into multilateral processes.
  • Group Projects: Collaborative, student-led research on different aspects of the Pact for the Future and its annexes, including the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations.

This initiative provides a deep dive into global governance and international cooperation at a pivotal time for the multilateral system.

Eligibility Criteria

The GSP is open to candidates who:

  1. Are currently enrolled graduate students, aged 22–32 years.
  2. Are not employed full-time.
  3. Have a strong academic record, extracurricular involvement, and relevant professional experience.
  4. Are fluent in English; French is an advantage.

Application Process

  • Application Period:
    Opens: Wednesday, 18 December 2024
    Closes: Friday, 28 February 2025 (12 noon Geneva time).
  • Submission: Complete and submit the application form online before the deadline.
  • Motivation Letters: Candidates must disclose if AI tools were used and for what purpose.

Selections will be based on academic and professional achievements, extracurricular activities, language skills, and demonstrated motivation, while ensuring a fair gender and regional balance.

Applicants will be notified of results in the first week of April 2025.
