About the Position
The Results Reporting Intern will work under the supervision of the Foresight and Development Results Adviser at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Headquarters in New York.
The intern will support the Results Reporting Team in drafting the 2024 Executive Director Annual Report, which will be presented to the Executive Board in June 2025.
This Annual Report highlights results achieved with UNFPA support during 2024 for women, girls, and young people globally. It maps trends, progress, and challenges across core areas of work, including sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, gender equality, youth empowerment, and population data for development. The 2024 report represents the penultimate year of the current Strategic Plan, playing a key role as UNFPA delivers on its long-term goals.
A work plan of achievements will be agreed upon with the intern, with a specific focus on shaping learning opportunities. The intern is expected to maintain regular engagement with the team, initiate communication with colleagues through meetings and email, and participate actively in discussing ideas, processes, and feedback.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Analyze the annual reports submitted by UNFPA country offices regarding their 2024 commitments.
- Examine other reporting platforms, including websites and social media, to identify results achieved by each office.
- Develop a comprehensive results database detailing all 2024 achievements.
- Contribute to the development of the 2024 “Orange Book of Results”, summarizing key results achieved across country offices.
- Assist in preparing and presenting the report to the UNFPA Executive Board.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (enrolled in the final year of undergraduate studies or recently graduated within the last 12 months) in international development, human rights, global health, gender studies, monitoring and evaluation, data and statistics, or related fields.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with experience in data analysis projects and/or knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- Ability to work systematically, think logically, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to self-organize, take initiative, and assume responsibilities proactively.
- Experience working in decentralized teams with sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with individuals of diverse cultural, national, and ethnic backgrounds.

Financial Aspects
UNFPA does not provide a salary or any other form of remuneration for interns. Costs related to participation, such as living expenses, accommodation, and travel arrangements, must be covered by either the nominating institution (e.g., university, government program) or the intern personally.
However, interns receive a stipend to cover basic daily expenses, provided they are not financially supported by any external institution or program. The stipend amount varies depending on the duty station.
Applicants are also required to have medical insurance for the duration of the internship, and proof of coverage must be submitted prior to the start date. UNFPA does not provide health insurance for interns.
