6th IKI Small Grants – Call for Proposals

The 6th International Climate Initiative (IKI) Small Grants call is open for submissions. Small regional, national, and local organizations in ODA-eligible countries (excluding current or potential EU member candidates except Ukraine) can apply for funding to support climate and biodiversity action.

  • Launch Date: 18 November 2024
  • Application Deadline: 15 January 2025
  • Funding Amount: €60,000 to €200,000 per project
  • Funding Scope:
    • Greenhouse gas emissions mitigation
    • Adaptation to climate change impacts
    • Conserving natural carbon sinks (e.g., preventing deforestation)
    • Biological diversity conservation

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Eligible Applicants:
    • Not-for-profit organizations and private companies with strictly non-profit objectives for the proposed project.
    • Operative for at least three years.
    • Annual revenue between €60,000 and €500,000 over the past three years.
    • Must employ dedicated accounting staff and use a software-based accounting system.
  2. Ineligible Applicants:
    • Government organizations (e.g., ministries, municipalities, public universities).
    • Branches of organizations headquartered in non-ODA countries.
    • Consortia or organizations forwarding funds to other partners.
    • Research projects without substantial implementation components.

Application Process

  1. Step 1 – Eligibility Check:
    Submit an application through the platform by 15 January 2025. Required documents:
    • Organization’s registration certificates
    • Financial statements from the past three years
    • Completed revenue template
    • Accounting and procurement guidelines
  2. Step 2 – Project Proposals:
    Eligible applicants will be invited to submit detailed project proposals and budgets by 12 March 2025 via the same platform.

Additional Notes

  • Applications must be submitted in English, and communication will also be in English.
  • All applicants will receive confirmation of their eligibility after the initial review (post-15 January).
  • Applicants should not contact IKI for updates while the review process is ongoing.
