Location: Home-based within Kenya, ideally in Nairobi, with weekly in-person meetings in the Westlands/Lavington area.
Salary: KES 6 million per annum FTE, plus benefits.

The Healthy Brains Global Initiative (HBGI) is seeking a Project Development & Performance Manager to join its Africa portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to transforming mental health services and systems in Kenya and East Africa. HBGI focuses on maximizing mental health outcomes through performance management, program innovation, and outcomes-based contracting.

About HBGI
HBGI partners with funders, payers, and service providers to optimize and expand mental health programs. With a commitment to driving positive change, HBGI ensures services prioritize user-identified outcomes, shifting away from medicalized, siloed approaches.

As part of its expansion into East Africa, HBGI is mobilizing resources to improve the delivery, measurement, and funding of mental health services. The successful candidate will play a vital role in advancing this mission by working closely with the Managing Director, Africa, and the Contract & Performance Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Lead and support projects, including report writing, desktop reviews, data modeling, and bid documentation.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, linking program performance to outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with service providers, funders, and communities, ensuring alignment with user-centered goals.
  • Event Coordination: Organize meetings and events, leveraging networks to develop and enhance projects.
  • Change Leadership: Navigate change within programs by identifying performance gaps and implementing solutions.

Candidate Profile
HBGI seeks a professional who combines technical expertise with interpersonal skills to deliver impactful results. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree and a strong academic background.
  • A solid understanding of performance metrics within mental health or similar services, ideally at the community level in Kenya.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in Excel, with experience in data visualization.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for persuasive reporting and storytelling.
  • Proven experience in navigating change and building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive and flexible mindset, capable of managing multiple projects.
