The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) is pleased to announce the 2025 Scholars Program, offering scholarships to young, passionate students in developing countries. This program aims to support individuals pursuing their first undergraduate degree in fields that will allow them to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
Funding Details
- Maximum Scholarship Amount: $3,000 per year
- Average Scholarship Amount: $1,500 per year
What the Scholarship Covers:
- Tuition and fees
- Books, course materials, and supplies
- Accommodation and meals
- Transportation
What the Scholarship Does Not Cover:
- Education in countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, or Western Europe (due to high costs)
- Master’s or Doctorate degrees
- Laptop computers, conferences, or trips
- Debts or past-due tuition bills
Eligibility Criteria
The WMI Scholars Program is open to students who meet the following conditions:
- Must be 35 years old or younger by the application deadline (1 March 2025)
- Must have completed secondary education with above-average to excellent grades
- Must be applying for or already enrolled in their first undergraduate degree at a college or university in their home country or another developing country
- Must plan to live and work in their home country after graduation
- Must have volunteer service experience and a commitment to ongoing community involvement
- Must have some funding for education but require additional financial assistance
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to submit:
- Personal statements
- An essay detailing their background, goals, and how the scholarship will help them achieve their educational and professional aspirations
