Become a 2025 Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador: Apply Now!!

Are you a passionate young leader eager to tackle climate challenges and empower your community? The Global Youth Climate Network (GYCN), an initiative by the Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) Community of young professionals at the World Bank Group, in collaboration with Connect4Climate (C4C), invites you to apply for the 2025 Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador Program (MTECAP).

This six-month online program is designed to empower young leaders from around the globe to take meaningful climate action while connecting with like-minded peers and learning from leading climate experts.

What the Program Offers

The Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador Program provides a unique platform to:

  • Connect: Engage with a global network of youth leaders and climate change advocates.
  • Learn: Participate in interactive sessions led by World Bank experts, GYCN, Y2Y, and C4C Knowledge Partners. Gain insights from the World Bank Group Climate Change Action Plan and develop skills to address climate-related challenges.
  • Act: Implement tangible climate actions in your community with guidance and support from the program team.

Participants will benefit from a blend of technical training and hands-on learning, equipping them with tools to communicate climate solutions effectively. By the end of the program, ambassadors will be required to complete three climate actions in their community and attend a set number of learning sessions. Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: 18–35 years old.
  • Language: Strong conversational English skills.
  • Access: Reliable internet connection.

In addition, candidates will be evaluated on:

  1. Youth Leadership: Past or current leadership roles at the local, regional, national, or global level.
  2. Community Engagement: Experience in organizing community activities is an advantage.
  3. Climate Passion: Commitment to climate solutions and sustainable development.
  4. Initiative: Proven ability to act independently and inspire others.
  5. Network: Strength of social media presence and ability to mobilize networks.
  6. Proposed Impact: Potential to create meaningful contributions in their community.

Important Details

  • Application Deadline: December 11, 2024.
  • Program Duration: Six months (2025).
  • Program Focus: Capacity building (non-monetary).
  • Ineligibility: Previous ambassadors are not eligible to apply.

Participants agree to release the World Bank Group from claims related to the program. The World Bank retains its privileges and immunities as outlined in the Terms and Conditions.
