Numun Fund is a transformative organization with a mission to mobilize and redistribute resources that empower feminist tech activism, organizations, and movements globally. As the first fund of its kind, Numun is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and justice-driven technological landscape, aimed at strengthening social justice movements and building technology for the world that should be. Currently in its build and grow phase, the Fund is refining its structures, processes, and operational mechanisms as it moves toward registration and autonomy.

Team Overview

Numun Fund’s team is compact, committed, and driven by collaboration. The team’s work is remote, with an emphasis on flexibility, care, and adaptability. The team is grounded in the diverse realities of their individual locations, folding considerations such as time justice and access to technology into how they work. Numun Fund is especially focused on building a team of feminists from the Larger World including regions in Africa, SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa), Latin America, Asia, and the Caribbean to ensure that global perspectives are integral to its mission.

The Role: Programmes Weaver (Senior Coordinator)

The Programmes Weaver will play a crucial role in coordinating and shaping the strategic direction of the Fund’s programmes, with a specific focus on grantmaking and community strengthening strategies. This is a dynamic and creative role central to the Fund’s mission, and the individual in this position will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to refine, implement, and expand the Fund’s strategies.

The Programmes Weaver will manage the Fund’s participatory grantmaking processes, improve systems for accountability and collaboration, and ensure that Numun’s work aligns with its feminist values. This position offers the opportunity to shape the Fund’s strategies for growing its impact in feminist tech and organizing, working alongside the Co-Cartographer (Executive Director) and other key team members.

Key Responsibilities

Grantmaking and Programme Coordination

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for Numun Fund’s grantmaking programmes and annual work plans, ensuring alignment with the Fund’s mission and objectives.
  • Oversee participatory grantmaking processes, enhancing accountability and community engagement at every stage of the grant cycle.
  • Maintain and improve Numun’s grants management platform, ensuring smooth data entry, reporting, and grant closures.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts, including the development of proposals and exploration of alternative economic models for feminist tech activism.

Relationship Building and Community Engagement

  • Cultivate relationships with feminist tech communities and grassroots organizations, applying an intersectional approach.
  • Represent Numun Fund in relevant forums and build partnerships with other funds and networks across sectors.
  • Collaborate with grantees and advisors, ensuring that Numun Fund’s work remains responsive to the evolving needs of feminist tech movements.

Research and Learning

  • Track developments in feminist technology and social justice movements, analyzing trends, needs, and opportunities.
  • Work with grantee-partners to design and implement impact indicators and learning methodologies as part of the Learning, Evaluation, and Assessment Framework (LEAF).
  • Contribute to Numun Fund’s shared learning agenda, ensuring that knowledge gained from grantmaking cycles informs future work.

Operations and Administration

  • Collaborate with team members in the design and implementation of grantmaking systems, integrating operations, finance, and communications.
  • Ensure that programmatic systems foster trust, accountability, and a positive organizational culture.
  • Assist with event planning and support programmatic administration in coordination with the Ops Choreographer.

Qualifications and Experience

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Strong feminist politics and an understanding of structural power, especially from a global South perspective.
  • A proven track record in participatory grantmaking, project management, and relationship building with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and data analysis tools for grants management.
  • Experience managing budgets, planning, and coordinating complex programs.
  • An openness to learning and adapting in a fast-growing, remote, and collaborative environment.

Bonus: Experience in technology philanthropy, feminist data policies, and impact analysis using feminist research methodologies.

What Numun Fund Offers

  • Position: Senior Coordinator (Programmes Weaver)
  • Remuneration: $50,000 – $60,000 USD per annum
  • Start Date: March 1, 2025 (or earlier)
  • Contract: 1 year, renewable based on performance
  • Hours: Full-time (1 FTE)
  • Leave: 25 days annual leave + public holidays + wellness days
  • Allowance: Wellness, learning, and equipment allowance
