Exciting Opportunity P2 Position: Become a Junior Investigator at the International Labour Organization (ILO)

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is seeking a talented Junior Investigator to join its Investigation and Inspection Unit within the Office of Internal Audit and Oversight (IAO). This is a temporary 12-month role with a fixed-term contract, offering an opportunity to gain valuable experience in internal audits, investigations, and oversight functions at a leading UN agency.
About the Role
The Junior Investigator will play a crucial role in supporting the investigation of financial misconduct, administrative irregularities, and other violations within the organization. This position offers exposure to various investigative stages, including case monitoring, evidence collection, witness interviews, and report drafting. The role is designed to provide a comprehensive experience in administrative investigations while working under the guidance of the Chief of the Investigation and Inspection Unit and the Director of IAO.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring and Case Management: The Junior Investigator will be responsible for monitoring the IAO Hotline, managing the intake of allegations, and preparing case openings. They will also assist in analyzing data, identifying anomalies, and providing recommendations for investigation actions.
- Support During Investigations: The position will include accompanying lead investigators on field missions, gathering evidence, and conducting witness interviews. The Junior Investigator will also be tasked with documenting meetings, drafting witness statements, and recording interviews.
- Post-Investigation Duties: After investigations, the Junior Investigator will assist in compiling all relevant information, drafting summaries, minutes, and final investigation reports under the direction of the supervisor.
- Caseload and Reporting: The Junior Investigator will progress their own caseload, maintain up-to-date case records, prepare statistics, and assist in the preparation of presentations related to ongoing cases.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for the role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in law or a closely related field.
- Experience: At least three years of professional experience in criminal and/or administrative investigations.
- Languages: Fluency in one of the ILO’s working languages (English, French, or Spanish) is required. A working knowledge of another ILO language would be an advantage.
