We are looking for motivated interns to support our work in the following areas:
Open Positions:
- Policy, Research & Advocacy Intern
- Sovereign Debt Management (SDM) Intern
- Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) Intern
- Legal, Advocacy & Analysis on Debt (LAAD) Intern
- International, Public & Private Finance (IPPF) Intern
- Campaigns & Communication Intern
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (M&E) Intern
- Human Resources & Administration Intern
- Intern, Executive Director’s Office
Internship Duration: 6 months (January – June 2025)
Location:
- Office-based (for those in countries with AFRODAD offices like Harare, Zimbabwe or Yaoundé, Cameroon).
- Remote (for applicants outside these locations).
About AFRODAD:
The African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) is a Pan-African civil society organization working to promote transparency, accountability, and responsible borrowing among African governments. With a presence in 16 African countries and 3 regional economic blocks, we strive to ensure that Africa’s debt crisis does not impede the continent’s progress towards sustainable development and poverty eradication. In a world where debt is an urgent issue, we are committed to influencing policy change for better debt management, efficient resource mobilization, and the effective use of international finance.
Objective of the Internship Program:
The 2025 AFRODAD Internship Programme provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in policy advocacy, research, campaign management, and civil society organization management, while contributing to the economic justice movement in Africa.
What You’ll Learn:
- Practical experience in policy research and advocacy.
- Insights into African debt management, economic development, and public finance.
- Development of research, writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Exposure to working in a Pan-African Civil Society Organization.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields such as Economics, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Communications, Human Resources, Data Science, Statistics, or related fields.
- Skills: Strong analytical and written communication skills, and the ability to present ideas clearly. Public speaking skills are a plus.
- Interest: A solid understanding of African development issues and a passion for advancing Africa’s global agenda on economic policy.
- Languages: Proficiency in English; French is required for positions in Cameroon.
- Tech: Ability to work remotely, with access to a laptop and reliable internet.
