GIZ African Union (AU) is hiring! 7 Open Roles: Apply!!

Africa CDC is actively seeking dedicated professionals for several key positions that aim to enhance health systems and promote a One Health approach across the continent.

About GIZ and Its Partnership with Africa CDC

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global service provider focused on international cooperation for sustainable development. Committed to shaping a future worth living, GIZ has been a reliable partner of the African Union (AU) since 2004, working to enhance inclusive growth and sustainable development in alignment with the AU’s Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is a specialized institution of the African Union that supports public health initiatives across Member States. It strengthens the capacity of public health institutions to detect, prevent, control, and respond effectively to disease threats. By providing coordinated solutions, Africa CDC addresses inadequacies in public health infrastructure, human resources, disease surveillance, laboratory diagnostics, and emergency preparedness.

The initiative “Strengthening One Health Coordination in Africa: Support to Africa CDC” is co-financed by the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). Implemented by GIZ and AFD, this action is part of the BMZ’s projects aimed at strengthening crisis and pandemic response in Africa. It contributes to the Team Europe Initiative on Sustainable Health Security using a One Health approach.

The overall objective of this initiative is to bolster health security in Africa by enhancing One Health surveillance and early warning systems for emerging threats from wildlife and livestock. Specifically, it aims to strengthen Africa CDC’s institutional and operational capacities for coordinating surveillance, prevention, preparedness, and response to emerging zoonotic diseases. Through this collaborative effort, GIZ and Africa CDC are committed to fostering a healthier and more resilient future for the continent.
