The World Health Organization (WHO) is offering young professionals an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the global health sector through its Fellowship Programme in Cairo, Egypt. Programme Objectives
The Fellows@EMR programme is designed to:
- Provide a framework for young professionals from diverse academic backgrounds to enhance their skills through practical assignments.
- Offer direct exposure to WHO’s work, allowing fellows to contribute under the supervision of experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
As a fellow, you will be assigned a project aligned with your skills and the programme’s objectives. Your tasks may include:
- Conducting literature reviews and surveys
- Undertaking web research and data analysis
- Assisting in organizing workshops, meetings, and events
- Drafting and editing policy briefs, toolkits, and reports
- Participating in ongoing departmental projects
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Education: Postgraduate degree in public health, social sciences, or related fields.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in research, report drafting, or fieldwork, with knowledge of data analysis and statistical software being advantageous.
- Languages: Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or French is a plus.
- Core Competencies: Applicants should demonstrate teamwork, respect for cultural differences, effective communication, and adaptability to changing environments.
Additional Information
- The fellowship includes a monthly stipend and travel to the duty station.
- Only applicants from low and middle-income member states of the Eastern Mediterranean Region will be considered, including Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco, among others.
- Fellows will not be eligible for any WHO appointments for three months after completing the fellowship.
