Apply for the Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) 2025 Visiting Fellowship Program for Early Career Researchers (stipend available)

France remains at the forefront of the global effort to combat climate change. As part of the Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) initiative, launched in 2018, the MOPGA 2025 Visiting Fellowship Program offers early career researchers an opportunity to contribute to climate-related research and other environmental challenges. This prestigious program invites talented researchers from around the world to carry out 12-month research projects in France.

Program Overview

The MOPGA 2025 Visiting Fellowship Program aims to support 60 early career researchers in advancing their climate change-related research in France. The initiative is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in partnership with the French Ministry for Higher  Education and Research and is administered by Campus France.

Research Themes

The fellowship welcomes proposals focused on:

  • Earth systems
  • Climate change and sustainability
  • Energy transition
  • Societal challenges related to environmental issues
  • Human, animal, and ecosystem health within a “One Health” framework

Preference will be given to projects utilizing innovative technologies to address these global challenges.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be foreign researchers holding a PhD (awarded between December 2019 and December 2024)
  • Have not resided in France for more than 90 days between September 5, 2024, and December 5, 2024
  • Not hold French citizenship

Fellowship Benefits

  • Monthly stipend of €2,500
  • Moving allowance of €500
  • Health insurance covering civil liability and repatriation assistance
  • Hosting Agreement with the French research institution to facilitate the project

Application Requirements

Applicants need to submit:

  • CV (maximum 4 pages)
  • PhD diploma or equivalent certification
  • CV of the French research supervisor (maximum 2 pages)
  • letter of support from the French host institution
  • Up to three recommendation letters
  • Passport or ID documentation

The research proposal should include:

  • Title, keywords, and abstract (maximum 2,000 characters)
  • Research context, objectives, and methodology
  • Relevance to MOPGA themes
  • Potential collaboration and impact on the applicant’s home country

Timeline

  • Application period: September 5, 2024 – December 5, 2024
  • Results announced: May 2025
  • Fellowship start date: Between September and December 2025
