  • This consultancy is initially offered for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funds.

Objective

The Content & Communications Officer will be responsible for managing and delivering high-quality content that tells the story of iMMAP Inc.’s impact. This role focuses on storytelling, through content writing, data visualization, photography and videography, ensuring the organization’s message is clear, impactful, and consistent across all platforms. The ideal candidate will have a background in feature journalism, editorial, data visualization design, photography, and video editing, and proficiency with digital tools, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Management

  • Develop feature stories showcasing the impact of iMMAP’s work across multiple digital (web and social) platforms, newsletters and media.
  • Create storyboards for video and photo essays in the field, showcasing a human-focused approach.
  • Collaborate across the organization to translate complex data into accessible visual content that supports iMMAP’s mission and projects.
  • Ensure all content aligns with iMMAP’s brand voice and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and manage story calendars to ensure a diverse content flow.

Data-Driven Storytelling

  • Use data journalism techniques to craft compelling stories that highlight iMMAP’s work and its impact.
  • Analyze project data and statistics to create insightful narratives, visualizations, and articles.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all data and information used in content by liaising with project teams.

Digital & Visual Content Design

  • Use Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere) and Canva to design visually compelling materials that enhance written content.
  • Develop infographics, data visualizations, and multimedia content to support storytelling and increase audience engagement.

Editorial Oversight

  • Oversee the editorial process for content developed by other team members, ensuring quality and coherence.
  • Act as a gatekeeper for iMMAP’s editorial style and tone, providing guidelines and feedback to ensure consistency.

Social Media & Digital Campaigns Support

  • the execution of digital marketing campaigns, including social media management.
  • Create content tailored to diverse geographical audiences across our main digital platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook).
  • Monitor digital analytics for growth among defined audiences.
  • Assist in SEO and content optimization for web content.

Capacity Building & Support

  • Provide training and support to colleagues on best practices in content creation, writing, and digital tools.
  • Collaborate with field teams to ensure content from global offices is integrated and aligned with iMMAP’s overall strategy.

Overview of Duties

The Communications and Outreach Coordinator assumes the primary responsibility for planning, developing and implementing communications and outreach strategies to promote iMMAP Inc.s’ visibility and programmes.

  • Management: S/he will Manage the annual G&A Communications budget.
  • S/he Manage all G&A Communications personnel, including supervising directly the Communications and Outreach Manager at iMMAP Inc.
  • S/he will plan, implement and evaluate organization-wide communications workshops when required.
  • S/he will ensure quality control of all communication products before they are published
  • Technical production and Coordination:
  • S/he will develop and implement iMMAP Inc.
  • Global Communications plans and strategies for internal and external stakeholders and tailored audiences.
  • S/he will be coordinating and supporting country communication teams to ensure the delivery of coordinated, impactful messages and news packages to key audiences taking into account global and operational strategies and policies.
  • S/he will seek innovative technology solutions to grow iMMAP Inc.’s social media footprint and outreach efforts.
  • Internal Communications:S/he will be responsible for drafting internal policies and procedures related to communications and outreach.
  • S/he shall safeguard iMMAP Inc. branding style and supervise its implementation in all country offices.
  • S/he shall oversee the implementation and management of the Internal Communications Task Force and ensure its structured and timely implementation.
  • External communications:
  • S/he will maintain iMMAP Inc.’s external communications platforms updated: newsletters, website, social-media, one-pagers, project snapshots with information on projects and capabilities statements, including past performance.
  • S/he will lead the development of yearly iMMAP Inc. annual reports.
  • S/he will act as external global focal point for engaging with media stakeholders and will act as a moderator/facilitator for partnerships events, if and when required.

Requirements

  • Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Data Science, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in content writing, editing, and communications, ideally within the humanitarian or development sectors.
  • Proven experience in data journalism and the ability to translate complex datasets into compelling narratives.
  • Proficiency in digital design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Canva.
  • Storyboarding experience with video editing and photo editing skills.
  • Strong editorial skills with a keen eye for detail, grammar, and style.
  • Experience in managing content for websites, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including SEO and social media management.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of website content management systems (CMS) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and development work and the specific challenges faced by aid organizations in digital communications.
