The Role:

Oxfam’s Global Humanitarian Team (GHT) is looking for PROTECTION PARTNERSHIP & NETWORK COORDINATOR to deliver a project on advocating for protection of civilians in conflict and greater compliance with International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

This is a National Fixed term contract 12 months with potential extension (depending on start date as the role is donor funded – the current end date is 31 October 2025).

Location:

 This role can be located in a country where Oxfam has a presence, subject to Oxfam’s ability to employ in that location, the affordability and practicality of doing so for this restricted funded fixed term position and right to work requirements being met. Due to legal & financial constraints, it is not currently possible for this role to be based in some Oxfam locations. These include, but are not limited to, Brazil, France, Italy and Sweden and any countries restricted due to budget constraints.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam’s mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

  • Excellent understanding of humanitarian diplomacy, advocacy, influencing and policy development on IHL and the protection of civilians.
  • Experience of creating, supporting or participating in inclusive networks including with mixed membership of national, regional and international actors.
  • Demonstrable commitment to supporting national and local protection actors, and to changing the power dynamics within the international humanitarian system for greater inclusion, accountability, and impact. Familiarity with the ambitions of the Grand Bargain and Charter for Change.
  • Demonstrable strategic thinking and judgement, and experience in high level representation
  • Understanding of intersectional gender and power dynamics and awareness of issues relating to the decolonisation of aid, racial justice and equitable partnerships.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, emotional intelligence, self-awareness and ability to work effectively in different cultural contexts.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and strong preference for the postholder to be able to work in French.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Oxfam’s values, mission and work and to global justice, social change, women’s rights and gender equality and commitment to delivering humanitarian work through feminist principles.
