About the role:
The consultant will be responsible for the execution of the media management model program and/or development of crowdfunding campaigns. He/she will provide advice on team management, administrative and organizational management, and personnel management, among others. In the case of support to crowdfunding campaigns, it will help to identify opportunities in the ecosystem and will guide the development of this type of initiative. You will accompany the media beneficiaries reviewing their progress on a weekly basis and schedule follow-up meetings of their plans. Additional knowledge on remote team management and financial sustainability for media will be an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose needs and opportunities for improvement in the area of beneficiary media management and/or diagnose needs and opportunities in crowdfunding campaigns;
- With the support of IWPR, design and execute an improvement plan for the beneficiary media. The plan should address concrete improvements in the strategic management area, including internal processes, work roles and distribution of responsibilities, quality controls, stakeholder engagement, etc;
- Review progress of management plans on a weekly basis and provide timely feedback to beneficiaries;
- Schedule consulting and/or training sessions with the means to execute the program work plan, according to the local context and the specific conditions of each beneficiary;
- Submit a monthly report to IWPR detailing all activities carried out, systematizing the progress achieved and identifying obstacles to program implementation;
- Follow up on the agreed work and results, and offer personalized advice based on the strategic planning of IWPR’s beneficiary media.

Minimum requirements of successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism and/or MBA or accreditation of proven experience in the field of at least seven years (for management support);
- Professional experience with tools, technology and team management models for digital news media: Minimum seven years (for management support);
- Demonstrable professional experience in leadership positions in local, national or regional news media: minimum five years (for management support);
- Adequate knowledge in executive leadership and administrative management for Latin American digital media (for management support);
- Demonstrable professional experience in the development of crowdfunding campaigns;
- Experience designing and facilitating workshops (virtual and in-person);
- Experience consulting with media outlets on management models;
- Extensive knowledge of the digital media environment in Latin America and the Caribbean;
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly to different audiences;
- Bilingual Spanish/English;
- Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work and adapt to diverse cultures;
- Professional ethics and journalistic ethics.
Other requirements:
- Availability and flexibility to work with different time zones and at different times of the week;
- Experience using security protocols for restrictive environments;
- Familiarity with media monetization, fundraising and audience development.
