About UNU-IIGH:
UNU-IIGH, based in Kuala Lumpur, is one of 14 UNU research and training institutes. Established in 2005, it advances evidence-based policy on sustainable development and global health, working with academic, policy, and civil society experts to influence policy and build consensus towards achieving the SDGs.
Position Overview:
The Research Fellow will support the Gender Equality and Intersectionality work package, part of UNU-IIGH’s strategic plan for 2024-2028. This role involves contributing to human-centered health systems and enabling environments for the health workforce. The Fellow will provide technical input, manage projects, produce policy-relevant research, and develop capacity-strengthening initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects within the Gender Equality and Intersectionality work package.
- Provide technical and managerial leadership for research and policy engagement activities.
- Build and manage partnerships with external researchers and partners.
- Ensure projects meet quality standards within budget and timelines.
- Contribute to capacity-building and knowledge translation.
- Engage in resource mobilization.
- Participate in international research, policy, and outreach events.
- Supervise postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, junior researchers, and interns.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in public health or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressively senior professional work experience, including managing research and training programs.
- Skills: Demonstrated ability in international research, policy engagement, academic publications, and teaching. Proficiency in English required, knowledge of another UN language is a plus.
- Attributes: Excellent communication, action-oriented, creative, entrepreneurial, integrity, interpersonal skills, and interest in economic immigration policy.
- Other: Track record of competitive funding and resource mobilization.
Remuneration:
- Contract: IPSA contract at P-3 level.
- Salary: Annual net salary ranging from USD 59,151 to USD 62,024.
- Benefits: 30 days of annual leave, health insurance scheme.
- Taxes: Responsibility of the PSA holder.
Duration:
- Initial contract of 12 months, with possibility of renewal up to a total of 6 years.
- Mandatory retirement age for PSA holders is 65 years.
