Youth Blast – Assembly Gathering for the Summit of the Future Nairobi, Kenya  8th & 11th May 2024

Young people have been organising their participation and inputs for the Summit of the Future since 2022 across  various UN fora. The Youth Working/Focus of Summit of the Future, launched by MGCY in 2022,  provides direct inputs to the process. The first version of the global youth policy paper for the Summit was published in January 2024 and the inputs to the zero draft published in February 2024. Young people and youth organisations also actively engaged during the various consultations hosted by the co-facilitators of the negotiation process.

The main objective of the Youth Blast – Assembly Gathering is to provide a self-organised space for training, capacity building and policy discussions for young people engaging in the Summit of the Future processes. We will provide a youth-led, youth-focused orientation on the UN Civil Society Conference – including what is happening, why it’s important, and how to engage – as well as creating a participatory space to generate youth recommendations toward the Summit of the Future and its key outcomes including Pact for the Future, the Declaration on Future Generations and the Global Digital Compact.

Target Audience:

Young people up to the age of 35, including especially those participating in the upcoming UN Civil Society COnference.

Day 1, 8th May will take place at a conference room in a hotel at Westlands Nairobi (exact location will be shared with the selected/confirmed participants). It will also be streamed online to take inputs from young people across the world.
Day 2, 11th May will also take place hybrid – we will confirm exact arrangements for the same soon.
