Work Remotely as a Feminist Storyteller/Writer at CHEVS: Apply!!!

Role: Feminist Storyteller/Writer
Type of contract: Individual contract
Duration of contract: June – August 2024

CHEVS is a youth-led feminist organisation dedicated to advancing social justice for LGBTQI+ and sex worker communities in West Africa. Since our inception 5 years ago, we have worked towards accelerating the inclusion of women, sex workers, and LGTBQI+ persons through a community-led and driven approach, with a focus on advancing SRHR, human rights, economic justice, and gender justice.

As a youth-led feminist organisation, we’ve navigated pivotal moments to amplify our impact. The biggest feat happened in our fifth year: We transitioned from being a national organisation to serving communities across West Africa. This required extensive internal and external restructuring to fully embrace our new path. As we celebrate our journey over the past five years, we seek an exceptional feminist report writer with storytelling skills to weave together our accomplishments, challenges, and aspirations into a compelling narrative.

CHEVS seeks the expertise of a consultant with remarkable storytelling abilities to compile, structure, and narrate the organization’s five (5) years journey in a report. The consultant will imbue life and human voices into our wins, struggles, and hopes for the future, making the report a testament to youth leadership and community-centred organizing.

  • Conduct interviews and consultations with key staff, stakeholders, and partners to learn our inception story, and gather information and insights.
  • Draft the annual report content, including narratives, success stories, case studies, and statistical data.
  • Craft the report structure in a way that shows our evolution and captivates readers.
  • Collaborate closely with CHEVS’ Communications and Program teams to capture CHEVS’ unique voice.
  • Provide design direction where needed and work with the graphic designer to integrate colorful graphics, charts, and infographics to highlight our impacts and lessons learned in a manner that is easy to understand and visually engaging.

  • A detailed outline and work plan presenting the structure for the report.
  • A draft version of the report submitted in MS Word or Google Docs format.
  • Revised and final versions of the report, incorporating CHEVS’ input and feedback.
  • Coordinating with the CHEVS team and our graphic designer to develop a digital design of the report.
