 7000 Languages, a 501c(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to empowering communities worldwide to sustain their endangered languages. Explore our fellowship and volunteer roles to make a difference while preserving invaluable culture, heritage, and history.

2024 Language Revitalization Fellowship: As a fellow, you’ll collaborate within your community to design lessons, create project plans, and deliver free language learning technology tools. Join a cohort to learn about language revitalization tools, practices, and strategies.

Duties Include:

  • Creating online language learning materials
  • Testing and reviewing new language learning technology tools
  • Working with communities to determine project goals and deliverables
  • Managing projects and assisting with content creation, software installation, course design, etc.
  • Sharing success stories and contributing to technology tool development

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Self-identifies as Indigenous (preferred)
  • Working toward a degree in Linguistics, Native American Studies, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
  • Member of a community with an endangered ancestral language (preferred)
  • Ability to plan and implement multiple projects while remaining focused and on schedule
  • Attention to detail, excellent writing, and proofreading skills
  • Familiarity with Indigenous, endangered language, and language revitalization issues
  • Experience learning or studying a second language
  • Comfortability using new technology tools

Position Type: Fellowship, part-time, 10 hrs. per week, 10-12 weeks duration

Pay Range: $18-$20 USD per hour (with potential for college credit)

Location: Remote, working in the U.S. Eastern Time Zone schedule

Dates: June – August 2024
