Open Philanthropy External Referral Reward Guide: Do Not Miss Out!!

Open Philanthropy is currently hiring for a number of roles, and we are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who refers a candidate to us who we end up hiring.

To qualify for the referral reward, please ask the person you are referring to submit an application through our site and mention that you referred them, or fill out the form here to suggest that we reach out to the candidate.

We will contact you within 30 days of the candidate starting full-time to pay out the referral reward. We may end up rethinking our roles, adjusting the reward amount, or sunsetting the referral program entirely in the future; changes will generally be announced on this page. Only good-faith referrals are eligible for the reward, and final determination of referral reward payment and eligibility will be made at the sole discretion of the Open Philanthropy team.

How is a referral attributed?

Only one person will be credited with a referral. The person who receives credit for a referral will be the person credited on the candidate’s application when they apply, or the first person who first puts the candidate on our radar (counted from the time of receipt of the email/form response).

Referrals beyond the first 20 won’t qualify.

Candidates we’ve already been in touch with, or who have already applied, are not eligible. If we decide not to pursue a referral immediately, your referral will be valid for up to 6 months after the introduction.

What happens if you hire one of my referrals?

If we end up hiring your referral, we’ll pay you a referral bonus of $5,000! (We may adjust this number over time e.g. to add more nuance to the incentives for referring candidates, or reflect a higher award for especially hard to fill roles. By default, we’ll plan to honor the award advertised at the time the referral was made.)
