JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Evidence and Communication Manager, the Communications and Community Coordinator fulfils an important role in Dignitas’ growth and impact. The role will entail design and implementation of communications and community building strategies that will help to build a strong organizational brand and profile that is representative of Dignitas’ growth and impact; and online and offline engagement that leads to new opportunities for impact. Working closely with the Evidence and Communication Manager, you will be responsible for Dignitas’ online presence and digital communication, and the growth of membership communities such as Lead Now and Dignitas Alumni Learning Champions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Task or Responsibility Expected Outcome
1) Lead organizational communications to strengthen Dignitas’ brand and online presence across a variety of platforms
a) Guided by key communications’ messaging as determined by Dignitas’ Communications Strategy,
manage the development and implementation of Dignitas’ Communication Calendar on a 6-12 month
rolling basis.
b) Design all social media content.
c) Draft, have approved and circulate quarterly newsletters via an organizational mailing list.
d) Grow and maintain an organizational mailing list via website and community sign-ups, bearing in mind best data protection and privacy practice.
e) Compile, and regularly share across platforms (internal and external) impact stories from Dignitas’ field activity and school partnerships.
f) Manage the Dignitas website blog
Dignitas’ communications are guided by a comprehensive strategy that offers clarity, guidance, and reference across the team.
Dignitas has a strong, visible brand supported by a strong organizational profile that engages
stakeholders, attracts support, and gives voice to our vision and mission.
Dignitas’ online presence is consistent and aligned to Dignitas’ values.
Manage all online platforms in accordance with the Communications Calendar (Mailchimp, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter), including associated handles such as Lead Now, and Keep Kenya Learning.
h) Monitor and make recommendations on Dignitas’ website content in line with Communications
Strategy
i) Lead an annual review of Dignitas’ Communications Strategy
j) Identify and track suitable metrics to measure quantity, quality and impact of Dignitas’ online
presence.
k) Support the Evidence and Communication Manager in writing, editing and designing organizational
reports as required.

2) Support the design and delivery of Dignitas events, including, but not limited to, donor and partner events, alumni events, program events and graduation ceremonies.
a) Ensure availability of current brand collateral at events
b) Provide planning and logistical support across the Dignitas team, cognizant of intended outcomes and available resources
c) Document events for online and offline communication, including newsletters, social media
and website highlights including event participant quotes, images and other representations of event
activity and outcomes.
d) Ensure data protection and privacy policies are comprehensively followed during events, and
appropriate participant consent acquired before, during and after as required.
Dignitas events represent the brand, work and impact well, meet strategic outcomes, and are adequately documented for broader communication aims.
3) Design and implement community building activities that offer growth and impact opportunities to Dignitas
a) Ensure the establishment and growth of a vibrant online LeadNow community, including the
coordination of community content, activity and events in conjunction with the relevant member(s)
of School Support Team, and the Digital Program Officer.
b) Design and implement for the integration of Dignitas program alumni and traditional cohort
members in broader organizational activity.
Dignitas hosts a vibrant online community of educators engaged through LeadNow
Dignitas alumni form an impactful movement of educators who will create positive change in the education sector.

4) Curate Dignitas’ Alumni Learning Champions annual calendar of events and engagement:
a) Lean on programming offerings to alumni for insight, and opportunities for synergy.
b) Promote engagement with Dignitas’ Alumni online
community through strategic design and implementation of platform activities and engagement strategies
c) Design and implement an annual calendar of offline and online events that cater to Dignitas alumni
across cohorts and locations, and respond to the alumni learning champions strategic objectives.
Dignitas alumni have a meaningful way to engage that aligns with our alumni strategy
Dignitas resources such as the online community platform are strategically utilized to ensure sustainability of impact.
Other Activities
Undertake other duties (within individual competence and capacities) necessary to support the
activities of Dignitas, as and when required by line management.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or other relevant field
A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar environment
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to think strategically, and proactively solve problems.
Ability to juggle several competing priorities from different projects at the same time.
Demonstrated attention to detail, following procedures, meeting deadlines and working
and problem-solving independently and cooperatively.

Work Location and Remuneration
The candidate will be based in Nairobi but must have the ability to travel to various parts of
Kenya as required (minimal). Salary is commensurate with experience and competitive with the
non-profit education sector in Kenya.
The candidate should have permission to live and work in Kenya.
