Are you a current student at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) with a passion for leadership and academic excellence? The White House Initiative on Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Development through HBCUs is thrilled to announce the launch of the HBCU Scholar Recognition Program!
What is the HBCU Scholar Recognition Program?
This program aims to recognize outstanding HBCU students who excel academically and demonstrate leadership both on campus and in their communities. Selected scholars will have the opportunity to represent their institutions, engage with industry professionals, and participate in various events and workshops.
What We’re Looking For:
- Academic Achievement: Demonstrated excellence in the classroom.
- Civic and Campus Engagement: Leadership roles making a positive impact in the community and on campus.
- Entrepreneurial Ethos: A spirit of innovation and a drive to seize new opportunities.
Program Benefits:
- Immersive experience working closely with Initiative partners.
- Participation in regional events, virtual convenings, and monthly master classes.
- Invitation to the HBCU Week National Annual Conference with all expenses covered.
- Recognition in official U.S. Department of Education and White House Press Releases.
How to Apply:
If you’re ready to take your leadership journey to the next level, follow these steps to apply:
- Ensure all fields of the application are completed and gather supporting documents (resume, personal statement, letter of recommendation, unofficial transcript).
- Obtain endorsement from your HBCU President/Chancellor or designated faculty member.
- Submit your complete application to [email protected] by April 19, 2024.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a current undergraduate, graduate, or professional student at an HBCU.
- Must demonstrate strong communication skills, leadership, and initiative.
