About APRI
APRI – Africa Policy Research Institute is a new, independent, non-partisan African policy institute researching key policy issues affecting the African continent. Its goals are to provide input to the German and EU policymaking processes on Africa and options on key policy issues to African and African diaspora actors.
To do this, APRI taps into the expertise of African intellectuals, scholars and networks, collaborating with a wide range of organisations at home and abroad to conduct policy research that looks beyond prevailing narratives and transcends disciplinary hegemonies to centre Africa. Its outputs include reports, policy briefs, and short analyses to expand to other innovative ways of disseminating its work.
About the role
The Intern is a full-time role with the APRI team, under the direct supervision of the Head of Geopolitics Program. The Intern provides a range of research, operational, logistical, coordination and administrative services to support APRI’s research programmes.
The Intern must be detail-oriented, skilled in research, social media management, computers and general office tasks. They must be proficient at both verbal and written communication. The position is based in Berlin, Germany, but remote work is a possibility.
Responsibilities
- Support APRI’s research programmes with data gathering and analysis as required
- Support APRI’s communication and social media management team as required
- Coordinate the translation, proofreading and editing of documents as required
- Support other team members in preparing and formatting documents, including PowerPoint presentations
- Any other general responsibilities as may be reasonably requested over time
Your Profile
- Undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate university programme in economics, international relations, political science, development studies, public policy or equivalent
- Proficient in conducting literature reviews and data analysis
- Proficient with computer technology and Microsoft Office applications
- Sharp attention to detail with an ability to multitask
- Able to work well with culturally diverse and geographically distributed staff and partners
- Fluent English language skills
