The Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF) is looking for a strategic Communications Manager: Apply Now!!! (remote position – open globally, preferably in the Global South.)


The Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF) is seeking a talented and passionate Communication Manager to join our team. As the Communication Manager, you will play a crucial role in promoting YCJF’s mission and vision to various stakeholders, including our funders, grantees, and the broader public.

LOCATION : Remote position – open globally, preferably in the Global South.

COMPENSATION : USD230 per day – minimum 3 days per week (7h per day) + benefits. 

START DATE: Ideally on the 4th of March

CONTRACT TYPE  : Part-time position on a consultant contract. It is a flexible position depending on availability with a minimum of 3 days per week. The contract will be made by our Fiscal Sponsor based in the United-States, on behalf of the Youth Climate Justice Fund. We provide vacations and health compensation.

BACKGROUND 

The Youth Climate Justice Fund (YCJF) supports youth climate justice movements with trust-based funding, resources and youth-to-youth capacity development. The YCJF was publicly launched during New York Climate Week 2023. In September 2023, we also launched our first grantmaking call, receiving more than 1,800 applications from all over the world. In 2023, we supported 40 groups working on climate justice with an initial $500.000.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

Management of YCJF Communication

  • Lead the development and execution of the YCJF Communication Strategy, focusing on the 3 external YCJF audiences: current and prospective funders, and the general YCJF public. 
  • Coordination of YCJF communication consultants, such as the website designer and illustrators.

Management of YCJF Comms Platforms

  • Manage YCJF’s website to ensure that it is entirely up-to-date.
  • Creation and input of strategic content on the 3 main YCJF platforms: website, newsletter, and linkedin. It includes for example:
    • Working with the Development team to curate newsletters tailored to each audiences (i.e. partners, prospective partners and general public); 
    • Lead the development of the ‘Stories hub’, a new webpage on ycjf.org where the stories of our grantee partners will be shared to our public. 
    • Drafting blogs and updates on YCJF website. 

Development & fundraising 

  • Support the Co-Director of Governance and Development with regular newsletter to funders.
  • Support creation of digitally friendly materials for funders.

Grantmaking

  • Lead the development of the ‘Stories hub’, a new webpage on ycjf.org where the stories of our grantee partners will be shared to our public. 
  • Create and consolidate the storytelling of each of the stories showcased on the ‘Stories Hub’ facilitating the co-creation with our grantee partners.

Public Relations support 

  • Cultivate relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers to secure media coverage and amplify YCJF’s message.

PROFILE 

Experience 

  • +5 years of experience in working as a communication specialist (experience in managing different communications projects with different clients is a plus).
  • Commitment to climate justice by solving the climate crisis by jointly tackling marginalisation, exploitation, and oppression, and enhancing equity and justice.
  • Experience in working with and in support of youth climate justice movements is a plus. 
  • Experience with communication and social media (newsletter management is a plus!).

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Experience in written story-telling in English is a plus.  
  • Speaking Spanish is a plus.
