Job Summary

As we embark on the journey outlined in the WINGS 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, and in response
to the invaluable insights garnered from our 2022 Membership Survey and ongoing feedback
mechanisms, it has become evident that our members demand enhanced and more tailored
support to achieve a collective network impact. This imperative underscores the need to
develop regionally-focused workstreams and tighter integration of our programmes and
activities facilitated through regional representation.

The Senior Regional Associate for Africa will work directly and team up with the Regional
Coordinator for Africa to help WINGS be closer to its members in the region and support them in
engaging in WINGS’ activities.

Main areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support during the entire regional project cycle (design, implementation, evaluation) of the Ecosystems work of WINGS, including mappings for the philanthropy support ecosystems (PSEs), roadmaps, regional events, etc.
  • Follow a detailed project plan to track progress and support the implementation of all the activities related to the regional work in Africa.
  • Support the management curation of content and knowledge production for events, activities, and publications as needed.
  • Support the design and implementation of webinars, online meetings, and in-person events connected to the regional work.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation process of all projects and initiatives in Africa.
  • Support the flow of administrative and contractual communications with sub-contractors and consultants.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation including grant reports, work plans, presentations, and other project-related documents or publications as needed.
  • TOR Senior Regional Associate
  • Liaise with the WINGS members and support the development of communities of practice and working groups.
  • Participate in strategic conversations with WINGS stakeholders when assigned.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of WINGS.
  • Grant management support: Prepare user-friendly reports and task reminders and ensure their functionality to support WINGS’ activities. Follow up with internal or external colleagues as needed to ensure timely completion of all proposal review and grants management tasks.
  • Work in collaboration with staff, member organisations, consultants, and partners to ensure the successful execution of the programs. Contribute to advancing the overall mission of WINGS.

Requirements

This is a consultant position with a full-time dedication (40 hours per week). A successfulcandidate will have the following:

  • Citizen of and based in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fluency in English, including good writing skills. Fluency in French is desirable.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a remote team.
  • Global mindset: openness to and awareness of cultural and geographic diversity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and the ability to build relationships with a broad range of actors.
  • Experience working under deadlines and meeting scheduled deliverables.
  • Proficiency in using computers and database systems, including online tools like Zoom, Miro, Asana, etc.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • This position may require some travelling.
