The Gradient Learning program is a research-based approach to education designed to drive student engagement, meaningful learning, and strong student-teacher relationships. The Gradient Learning program offers schools a customizable curriculum, a range of educational resources and technology tools, professional development for educators, and ongoing coaching and support for schools. The program is used by nearly 400 schools, 4,000 educators, and 80,000 students across the U.S.
Along is a free, interactive video journal that helps teachers guide their students to reflect and grow all year long–whether they’re back in the classroom or learning remotely. Along brings skill-building resources and efficient communication into a dedicated space where every student feels seen and heard.

Chief Partnerships and Impact Officer
Position Overview:The Chief Partnerships and Impact Officer is a new role pivotal to driving Gradient Learning’s impact on the broader educational sector. The Chief Partnerships and Impact Officer will develop and continually refine the organization’s vision for wider sector impact, set and execute an external partnership strategy, and lead the growth of Gradient Learning Programs via effective business partnership strategies.
The Chief Partnerships and Impact Officer will lead a small, newly formed team and report to the Executive Director. This is an exempt position and a remote opportunity.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Vision Setting: Develop and continually refine a vision for Gradient Learning’s impact on the broader educational sector by
- Deeply understanding Gradient Learning’s evolving program models
- Understanding Gradient Learning’s historical approach to impact, school and district growth, and strategic partnerships
- Continually evaluating the state of the educational sector, including current and/or emerging gaps that Gradient Learning may be well positioned to address
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to develop and refine a vision for how Gradient Learning can impact the sector
Defining multi-year strategic plans to achieve desired sector impact
External Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with strategic external stakeholders to maintain a pulse of emerging educational trends and to support partnership work by
- Connecting with a collection of external organizations, including other nonprofits, edtech companies, and state educational agencies, that are aligned to our sector impact vision
- Maintaining and nurturing relationships with a set of senior-level stakeholders to ensure satisfaction with the progress and outcomes of strategic alliances/partnerships
- Participating in relevant conferences, funder events, etc., to continue to represent the Gradient Learning brand (in conjunction with the Executive Director and others at the organization)
- Maintaining relationships with relevant foundations interested in the whole student, Edtech, and coaching spaces
School and District Partnership Growth: Develop and execute a strategic school and district growth plan for the Summit Learning program that is aligned with the long-term vision for broader sector impact by
- Working closely with internal teams, including our Marketing and Communications team and our Program teams, to develop a school and district recruitment strategy
- Leading the execution of the recruitment strategy, which may include direct outreach to relevant schools, districts, and state agencies, participation in relevant conferences and gatherings, as well as partnerships with vision-aligned organizations
- Leading quick learning cycles to quickly understand the effectiveness of various recruitment strategies and using those learnings to refine the recruitment strategy to maximize return on investment
- Refining the selection and onboarding process to align with evolutions of the program model for Summit Learning
Team Development and Management: Manage a newly formed team focused on strategic partnerships and school/district growth by
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the development team
- Setting culturally competent and ambitious goals for the team and holding them accountable for achieving results
- Building and leading a high-performing growth and partnership team, providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities to team members
- Fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team
- Collaborating with the executive team and key stakeholders to align team strategies with the organization’s long-term goals
Strategic Leadership: Serve as a member of the organization’s executive team, setting the direction and strategy for the organization by
- Establishing solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including partner schools, board members, and donors
- Effectively collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Collaborating with the executive team to drive progress across the organization
Qualifications:
- Commitment to uphold Gradient Learning values.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- At least 12 years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, growth strategy, development, and/or external affairs is required. (Experience doing this type of work within an educational nonprofit setting, specifically for an educational technology and/or coaching company strongly preferred.)
- At least five years of management experience is required.
- Proven track record of leading sector impact via securing external partnerships and/or securing significant growth.
- Strategic thinker with a relentless focus on outcomes, balancing short-term results with long-term organizational goals, and utilizing data to inform strategies.
- Proficiency in Google Platforms, including Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides.
- Clear health and background check.
- An ability to travel 10-25%.

What You Can Expect From Us:
Compensation
Gradient Learning offers full-time employees competitive salaries and benefits options. As indicated below, individuals hired in this role will typically start at a lower base salary.
- Bay Area, CA range- $216,939-$252,511
This range is adjusted based on the candidate’s location of residence; depending on the city you live in, there could be a % location adjustment in the above salary range (e.g. -5% -10%, -15%, -20%).
Compensation will be based on the applicant’s relevant expertise and experience.
