Incentivize Learning Activity (ILA)
The ILA is a 5-year Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The goal is to increase enrollment and attendance for vulnerable and underserved school-age children while contributing to improved learning outcomes and addressing the food insecurity that had become more acute in Liberia. This will be achieved through two objectives; (1) Increased school enrollment and attendance, which will be achieved through and the provision of daily nutritious meals to children and youth attending target pre-primary and primary schools, and reduced financial barriers to accessing education. ILA will focus its attention at the school level to address the push-and-pull factors that influence parents and children’s decisions to enroll in and continue attending school. (2) Improved enabling environment for sustainability of access to education and learning outcomes, will be achieved through improved coordination and leveraging of resources to access safe, diverse, and nutritious food for school feeding programs through local production; improved Ministry of Education (MOE), parent teacher associations (PTAs) and community participation in the oversight management, and implementation of school feeding; and increased parent, community, and private support for early grade reading and safe learning environments. The ILA will reach 50,000 pre-primary and primary school children in 215 schools in Margibi, Montserrado, Lofa, Nimba, Bong, and Grand Bassa counties.
