Special Focus on Educational Equity
In addition to the general category, we’re particularly excited about projects that tackle the 2024 special topic: Educational Equity. At least ten projects focused on this critical theme will be recognized and supported.
Yuriko Kikuchi Arigato Award
We’re also continuing our support for projects in the dance and performing arts field through the Yuriko Kikuchi Arigato Award. This special recognition, meaning “thank you” in Japanese, honors Yuriko, a trailblazing dancer, choreographer, and guardian of Martha Graham’s legacy. This award is particularly close to our hearts as Yuriko was the grandmother of our Director of Operations, Laura Kikuchi Dunn.
The Call For Kindness Fellowship & Grant
Get ready for a transformative experience! Riley’s Way plans to award up to 40 youth-led projects in 2024. This includes 25 start-up grants of up to $5,000 and 15 grants of up to $3,000. The grant will be disbursed in two portions, providing financial support for your project’s growth.
But it doesn’t stop there! C4K Fellows will also embark on a dynamic Leadership Development Fellowship. This year-long journey includes monthly virtual networking and skill-building sessions, plus an in-person Leadership Retreat. Dive into workshops led by peers and field experts, tailored to your needs and interests.
What to Expect from the Fellowship
1. Skill Building: Enhance your leadership and project management skills with workshops covering diversity, equity, and inclusion, budgeting & fundraising, and media engagement.
2. Inclusive Community: Join a national network of like-minded youth, adults, and experts. Share your story, strengthen your networking skills, and build lasting bonds.
3. Project Support: Receive direct financial support and 1:1 mentoring. Benefit from bi-weekly one-on-one conversations, group brainstorms, and problem-solving sessions.
Partnerships for Impact
For legal and tax reasons, grant money cannot be directly awarded to individuals. Consider partnering with a registered 501(c)(3) organization, such as your school or a nonprofit, to act as your fiscal sponsor. Don’t have one? No problem! Riley’s Way will help you find a partner during the Fellowship process.
Fellowship Expectations
The Call For Kindness program extends beyond the grant – it’s a lifelong community of young changemakers. As a Fellow, you’ll attend virtual and in-person sessions, connect with mentors, submit grant reports, and have a ton of fun along the way!
