The Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and Messenger of Peace Programme Unit at UN are offering a unique internship opportunity!

Duties and Responsibilities
The Internship is in the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications, in the NGO Relations, Advocacy and Special Events Section, specifically with the team that manages the UN’s Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and Messenger of Peace (MOP) Programme.
CCOI promotes partnerships and collaborations with the global entertainment industry, including film, television, documentaries, new media, sport and music; the MoP Programme coordinates the advocacy work of the UN Messengers of Peace on behalf of the Organization and coordinates policy on celebrity advocacy, including Goodwill Ambassadors, across the UN System globally. Three internship positions are available.
The internship is for a period of six months and the expected start date is 1 February, 2024. As the hiring of the positions are on a rolling basis, we encourage candidates to apply at their earliest convenience. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days a week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities
The selected intern may perform some of the following functions:
– Providing support for projects undertaken with external partners from the entertainment or sports industries, such as drafting of background materials, taking meeting notes, etc.
– Monitoring and reporting on social media activities of the Messengers of Peace and other influencers in support of the UN; and collating metrics on advocacy engagement.
– Assisting with the planning and organization of special events, filming projects and other in-person activities at UN Headquarters.
– Drafting, formatting, editing and posting original content for the team’s two websites. – Assisting in the drafting of communications materials, including concept notes, talking points, presentations and press releases.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
