Internship Details
- Position: Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Intern
- Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands (Hybrid work environment)
- Salary: Internship stipend provided – maximum of 400 euros on a full-time basis
- Job Type: Internship (1.0 FTE)
- Internship Period: 4-6 months starting January 2024
- Closing Date: December 22, 2023
Responsibilities
As a MERL intern, you will be an integral part of Aflatoun’s team, contributing to various tasks, including:
Knowledge and Data Management (80%)
- Collate historical evidence gathered by Aflatoun and centralize it in one repository.
- Index and file new evidence into the internal repository as it is generated.
- Support in organizing, updating, and verifying the MERL database and Project Data.
- Disseminate evidence both internally and to external stakeholders through various platforms such as webinars, journals, blogs, etc.
- Assist in the development of new M&E tools to measure the effectiveness of various Aflatoun programs.
Other General Support (20%)
- Provide support in the annual survey.
Throughout the internship, you will have the opportunity to support additional activities conducted by the MERL team and gain familiarity with other departments within the organization, including the Education & Digital Team, the Communications Team, and the Programme Team. You will be encouraged to participate in meetings with Aflatoun staff.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Be enrolled in the final stages of master’s studies or recently graduated in fields such as education, development studies, knowledge management, psychology, or public policy.
- Possess proficiency in MS Word and Excel, along with experience in SPSS, STATA, or other statistical software.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and interest in social and financial education programs.
- Have previous experience or qualifications in knowledge management, including organizing, centralizing, and disseminating information effectively.
- Be a team player who can easily adapt to changing priorities and needs.
- Have proficiency in English.
- Be eligible to undertake an internship in the Netherlands for the next four to six months.
